Recycling clothes

Recycling clothes

According to US EPA Americans throw away 10.2 million tons of clothing every year and 86% is sent straight to landfills. This means that 14% of clothes, or in other words, only 1 in 7 garments are “recycled” by donating them to charities or for-profit companies. These numbers stun even more when we consider total waste per capita. An average American generates nearly 80 pounds of clothing waste every year. This compares to almost 200 T-Shirts! As a company with almost 20 years in this business we treat recycling clothes serious and as a part of our mission.Recycling clothes logo

To keep textiles out of landfills, A&E Clothing Corporation operates many donation drop boxes where you can place items such as clothes, shoes and small toys like stuffed animals. Stored in a waterproof and secure place, they will wait for scheduled pick-up by one of our trucks that will transport them to our 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse.

Our experienced sorting staff select quality, wear, and make sure that clothes are clean with no damage or stains. Highest quality clothes, called Premium Clothes, are carefully handpicked and packed into 55 lbs bags. Grade 1 apparel is baled in convenient 100 lbs bales to save up space during transportation.

Clothing with more visible wear and/or fade are baled into larger bales up to 1250 lbs. They are securely wrapped with cloth or plastic protection.
Both small and large bales are designed to perfectly fit 20 and 40 ft. containers. We can easily pack 500 of 100 lbs bales (50 000 lbs) into 40 ft. container! We can also take care of necessary documentation and inspection.

Recycling Clothes processes make used clothes deemed worthless gain a second life!
